Our Theatre JourneyCelebrating 50 Years

Having been an active drama group for the last 50 years we are proud to have produced a significant number of plays over the years.

Dalkey Players has been delighted to reach the famous Athlone stage in the Dean Crowe Theatre for the All Ireland Finals during the 1980’s, the 1990’s (under the direction of Margaret Dunne) with plays Translations, by Brian Friel; I Do Not Like Thee, Dr Fell, by Bernard Farrell; The Last Apache Reunion, by Bernard Farrell.

Our Prestigious Wins

Dalkey Players are very proud to have been awarded the RTE All Ireland Drama Festival Award in 2017 with Dead Man’s Cell Phone, by Sarah Ruhl directed by Emma Jane Nulty, and in 2023 with By the Bog of Cat’s, by Marina Carr directed by Emma Jane Nulty.

Dalkey Players were Runner Up in the RTE All Ireland Drama Festival in 2016 with Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte, adapted by Polly Teale, directed by Emma Jane Nulty and in 2024, with The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, directed by Emma Jane Nulty. The Crucible went on to win the prestigious The Abbey Theatre Award and played a sold out run in The Peacock , in June 2024.

Our activities

Our activities

We stage an Autumn Production in The Town Hall in The Dalkey Town & Heritage Centre, We also stage One Act Plays and enter the Bray One Act Festival and the I.C.A. Wicklow Drama Festival in January.

Our Full Lenght Circuit Play is also staged in The Town Hall in late Feburary before embarking on the ADCI Drama Festival Circuit in March. We also produce plays during this time – One Act Plays or a Full Length Play and then in late May, we stage our ‘in house’ production “B2B” (Back to Basics) where directors, actors, writers try out their work.

We continue to have a very active Writers Group and hold Workshops in Acting, Directing and Stage Management with professional theatre makers.
